To reach the trailhead, use GPS to guide you to Big Creek Trail, Cataloochee, NC 37821. From North Carolina, take I-40 West to the border of Tennessee and exit at 451, Waterville Rd. Follow the road under I-40, turn left at the stop sign, then take the first left. Follow Waterville Rd with the river on your left until you enter Great Smoky Mountain National Park on Big Creek Rd. Drive to the end of Big Creek Rd where you’ll find the parking lot and trailhead.
