Enjoyable hike especially when reaching the top where you will walk underneath a canopy of laurels and rhododendrons. Hemlocks dot the trail and you can catch distant views along the ridge off both sides. Enjoy a creekside, mountain climb, ridge top hike with some steep inclines on the Coontree Loop Trail. 50 min drive from Waynesville.

If you’d like to further your hike on connecting trails or try out some of the bike trails (in blue) swing by our Visitor Center in Maggie Valley to purchase a Pisgah Ranger District Map.

Directions:
From Waynesville head northwest toward S Main St. Continue onto US-276 S Pigeon St and on to US 276 S for 30 miles. Picnic area on right.
