The Guy’s Guide to Maggie Valley

Share

Searching for the ultimate man-cation? Where you and the guys can go out and just be dudes doing dude things? It’s time to check out Maggie Valley. Our local outdoor and dining activities will be sure to spark a bromance.

Pitch Your Tents and Setup Camp

Whether you enjoy the finer things in life (like AC) or the ground is your mattress, Maggie Valley has the space you’ll need. Great Smoky Mountains National Park makes the perfect camping spot if you’re looking to rough it. Their facilities feature a variety of different style camping grounds including backcountry, front country, group, and horse campgrounds, some of which include fire grates, picnic tables, and running water facilities. However, if you’re looking for a more luxurious stay, we also have many air-conditioned accommodations.

Catch an Early Bird’s Sunrise on the Blue Ridge Parkway

You’ll want to jump in the Jeep and put rubber to road with the boys first thing in the morning. Home to the highest sections of the entire parkway and several mountain overlooks, Maggie Valley’s Blue Ridge Parkway is your front row – or driver’s side – seat to a stunningly-painted Maggie Valley sunrise you can enjoy with your friends.

Put Some Pep in Your Step with Some Organic Caffeination

Make a pit stop to one of Maggie Valley’s local cafés to fuel up for the day’s adventures with a cup o’ joe. If you’re looking for an earthy, organic option to play into your “hippie outdoor getaway” aesthetic, then you’ll have to stop by Organic Beans Coffee Company. Their menu includes sweet pastries, a lengthy assortment of flavors, and you can even head home with your very own bag of fresh coffee beans as a souvenir.

Lace Up Your Boots and Hike Blackrock Mountain

Multitask by getting your steps in, brushing up on history, and teasing your friends while hiking up Blackrock Mountain. This 4.6-mile round-trip hike, starting at Browning Knob Overlook, features rich historical landmarks spanning thousands of years, even from before the Cherokee tribe claimed the land as their home.

Grab Your Bikes and Ride the East Loop of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park

If you and the ragtag team of cardio junkies are looking to take on a challenging trek, then wheel on over to the East Loop of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Spanning 112 miles and taking roughly four to six hours to bike, this scenic bike route is sure to leave you feeling accomplished and ready for your next stop.

Wrap Up Your Adventurous Outing with a Hot Dog and a Cold Beer

After all these adventures, we know you’ll be ready to hit the town and grab some grub. We highly recommend chomping down on one of Valley Dogs one-of-a-kind hot dogs (the Rad Dog is one of our favorites). And when you’re finished, you can chase it down with a craft beer from BearWaters Brewing Company.

In addition to these, we have numerous other bro-tastic activities to choose from to make an awesome trip for you and your dudes. So, the next time you plan your guy’s getaway, be sure to keep Maggie Valley in mind. And don’t forget to snap pictures and tag us with #MaggieValley or @VisitNCSmokies!
