Cherry Cove Trail

About

Length: 2.2 Miles
Rating: Moderate
Dogs: No

As of June 2025, Cherry Cove Trail and Rough Creek Watershed Trail System are closed temporarily for repair.

Pass through rhododendron tunnels, relax to the sounds of bubbling streams, and enjoy long-range views from Glade Mountain on this 2-part trail in the lesser-known Rough Creek Watershed Trail System! This trail is open for hiking and mountain biking.

With both an upper and lower portion, Cherry Cove Trail is perfect for adrenaline-pumping elevation gains and easy-going downhill rides. This point-to-point trail is 2.2 miles, but the hike from the parking lot to the trailhead will add extra trekking to your total.

As you enter the watershed area, remember to close the gate behind you. Stay on the trail at all times. The watershed is home to a host of diverse plant and animal life; staying on the path protects the area’s delicate ecosystem!

Please note, the Rough Creek Watershed Trail System is minimally maintained to keep the land as undisturbed as possible. The trail is clearly marked, but you may have to skirt around a blackberry bramble or two!
